Nowadays the internet and specially the social media sites are feed up with lot of information and advertises on how you should maintain a healthy life style, but more specifically on how to get the perfect dream body. There are so many so called influencers, that are going in the gym and make from it a photo session or movie studio, trying to promote food supplements, gym outfits, and so many other things, intoxicating so many young people especially, to think that the road to a good health and an athletic body is paved just with supplements and wearing the newest outfits in the gym – But is not like that at all.
I am not a gym addicted and very far away from being an expert in health, however from what I have noticed in the last few years since I start to pay more attention to my way of leaving, and what I have read from dedicated articles, I can certainly sustain that a healthy lifestyle and a good shape body can be obtained, by consistency following the below:
4 Essential Steps to A Healthy Life Style
Sleep:
Getting a proper rest in my opinion is the main step to a healthy life style. Our body needs to regenerated after an active day – work, traffic, family, workouts, etc.. the battery is drained and must be refilled, same as on our daily companion the mobile phone, that we put it on charge every single night, being 100 % battery for the next day.
From what I have noticed and it works on me, the best time frame to rest is from 22:00 – 06:00, getting my 7-8 hours of sleep, is giving me a good energy through out the next day.
Sleeping latter then 22:00-23:00 and waking up at 08:00 – 09:00 – 10:00 in the morning, I have noticed that is not giving me the same energy.
If you have the chance, power naps are also a good way of energy restoration.
Stress:
Stress, the second place in my top, as I have been affected heavily by this factor, especially during the COVID 19 period, still having some traumas of it, even now, and I can say without a proper management of stress in place, our health is getting significantly deteriorated with effects outside and inside of our body. For example one of the main impacts of stress, besides the mental aspect, was getting a redness on my face skin, on the top of the back and chest, called stress rash. For stress rash there are several types of creams that can be used, however should be recommended after getting seen by a doctor.
Try as much as possible to have a good balance of life between work, family, hobbies, in order to get a healthy life style.
Nutrition:
A healthy life style is maintained as well through out proper nutrition, which is third one in my top. What you should consider in my opinion is to minimise as much as possible the synthetic sugars, processed food especially the meat, soft drinks, junk food.
This is an easy and accessible way to everyone to have a good nutrition. What personal I have did so far is that for the past 5-6 years I have eliminated completely the soft drinks from my diet – only water, I have stopped eating fast foods and processed food from meat, and I try to be zero sugar or artificial sweeteners.
For me a perfect plate is 20% carbohydrates, 50% vegetables and 30% proteins.
Exercises:
Exercising is the 4th essential factor that in my opinion is necessary for a healthy life style and a good body condition.
I am going to gym and try to maintain a 5 days a week routine, not always possible, trying to be in a good shape at 41 years old. I am not targeting to get muscles grown, but I am more orientated to lifting weights that can’t lead to an injury of my body, and so far is working well.
Most of the people are going to gym, jumping directly to the heavy weights, dreaming to the big muscles from social media, in a very short time – but remember – what you have seen in social media has been achieved in 10-15-20 years of hard work and consistency, nothing is coming over the night.
Also you should have in your mind that those big muscles, sometimes have been achieved using steroids and many other supplements, and we can conclude, that big muscles are not equal always with a healthy life style.
Exercise, is important, but use your brain as well, not only the muscles in the gym, and make the best choices for your health.
Your body is your temple, treat it well, get a good rest, get proper nutrition, exercise and an appropriate stress management will lead to a healthy life style.
Remember – CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY!
